LED PhotoTherapy

In this treatment, the energy from red coloured to blue coloured light and to infrared light is used to heal skin conditions. Originally conceived to speed up the healing process for wounds and surgery related scars, SMARTLUX LED is now widely used for skin rejuvenation and elimination of acne scars.

This LED treatment uses High Intensity Phototherapy Device to deliver the healing power of light with red, blue, and infrared wavelengths. Utilizing high-intensity SLDs (Super-luminous diodes) developed by SMART Phototherapy technologies, this treatment offers benefits such as wound healing, pain relief, improvement of dermatological conditions, anti-aging, and enhanced skin radiance. SMARTLUX provides results with its various wavelength options and wide range of irradiation angles.

How Does LED PhotoTherapy work?

The LED PhotoTherapy uses light to stimulate cells, which start to activate their own vital functions and produce more enzymes. Photorejunvenation using the LED lamp activates photosensitive receptors in the cells to generate energy. From here, the photo rejuvenation leads to nourishment and regeneration of cells, on the face. Skin cells become gradually stronger thereby producing visible rejuvenation effect.

The treatment is pleasant and relaxing, it demonstrates high efficacy. Patients are exposed to regenerating light that not only rejuvenates and revitalise the skin, but also alleviates pain and exhibits anti-inflammatory properties.

Who is suitable for LED PhotoTherapy Treatment?

Different colours of the LED PhotoTherapy uses different wavelengths thus each colour penetrates the skin at different depths. Therefore, each treatment has to be tailored according to the patient's skin concern.

The red diode light (635nm)

The red diode light is meant for increasing the cell production rate through a process known as photobiostimulation. This is done by increasing the production of collagen and elastin. As a result of accelerated microcirculation, the skin tone improves and fine wrinkles get smoothed out.

This treatment is also used to complement other procedures such as photo-rejuvenation, radio frequency needling, chemical peeling etc. It boosts the treatment effect, speeds up the reparation cycles, and aids the post-surgery healing process.

The blue diode light (420nm)

The blue diode light is used commonly in acne treatment. It reduces the acne bacteria population, stops excess sebum, promotes production of elastin and collagen. It is appropriate for sensitive skin types, it is also used in conjunction with other therapies to treat acne conditions.

The Infrared light therapy (830nm)

The Infrared light is most use for anti-inflammation, wound healing and pain relief. It can also promote muscle tissue repair, accelerating healing and recovery after surgeries or intensive treatments like strong chemical peels , ablative lasers, energy-based devices, and IPL.

The advantages of LED technology:

LED light acts simultaneously on two processes of skin ageing. The first, is to promote and accelerate the proliferation and activity of fibroblasts that leads to a results of an increased production of natural collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

The second benefits of the LED light is for improving skin quality and texture over time. As cold light has considerable effects on tissue repair processes such as early scars, stretch marks, burns and sunburn.  It is an ideal complement to other treatment procedures such as photo-rejuvenation, radio frequency needling, chemical peeling, injectables and etc.

As LED does not contain UV rays, it is a safer form of light therapy that does not cause long-term skin damage or require downtime. It can also help slow down hair loss and activate hair regrowth by densifying hair. This technique improves blood circulation, resulting in increased nutrient intake and enhanced oxygenation of the hair follicles.

Doctor’s Advice & Recommendation

The LED phototherapy is a good post-treatment that complements other combined modalities. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the session. Initial effects typically appear after about 1.5 months, depending on the condition of the skin, the patient's age, and individual characteristics.
