Struggling

with Acne?

Acne does not only affect during puberty. Adult acne is one of the most common issues for men and women as well.

Understanding Acne & The Types of Treatment You Can Consider

Why Is Early Treatment of Acne Important?

Many teenagers and young adults believe in letting acne run its course and recover on its own. Others treat it with home remedies which may only cause the acne to further worsen. Understanding the causes of acne and which treatments can help your skin, will help to achieve effective results.

Acne vulgaris occurs when the openings of hair follicles are clogged and blocked by oil, bacteria and dead skin cells. The clogged pores become infected and inflamed, forming a pimple - a small red bump with pus at its tip. A person may suffer from multiple types of acne at the same time.

Lack of proper cleansing or treatment can lead to acne scarring or acne marks - also known as Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). Acne scars can be expensive to treat, and also involve significant downtime. Acne scars can often lead to significant physical and psychological problems as well. Thus, it is important to treat your acne early.

Stages of Acne

Stage 1: Mild Acne

This first stage of acne usually consists of a small concentration of pimples and/or blackheads on the skin. Usually, there is no inflammation, nor does it occur on a daily basis.

Stage 2: Moderate Acne

Moderate acne consists of blackheads, pustules, papules and pimples on the skin. It can occur more frequently, and there may be some redness or inflammation around the affected area.

Stage 3: Moderate to Severe Acne

The third stage of acne is identified by inflammation, with the skin looking red and irritated. Cysts, papules, and nodules may also be present.

Stage 4: Severe Acne

In the most severe stage, acne becomes extremely painful. There will be numerous pustules, cysts, papules and nodules in the affected area or on various parts of the body.

Treatment for Acne

Acne is a complex but treatable skin condition. It is caused by several underlying problems such as skin care products, hormones, genetics and stress. Therefore, not everyone's acne can be treated the same way. Active acne affects both the epidermis and dermis layer of the skin. Thus, it requires a customized multi-modal approach to achieve effective treatment.

Oral & Topical Medication

Antioxidants, used as oral or topical medications, can help promote better skin and overall health by fighting free radicals. They can also ward off inflammation, an underlying factor in acne vulgaris.

Peel Pro Acne Treatment

Customized peel pro acne treatment targets the epidermal layer of the skin, to eliminate the dead skin & bacteria hidden in the skin. This treatment can also control active sebum production and shrink large pores. Expect a smoother complexion with a glowing effect. Chemically formulated medical peel is most effective against dull and acne-prone skin.

Laser Therapy

Laser stimulation can reach deeper into your skin's layers to kill harmful bacteria, thus effectively resolving acne problems. This treatment heats up the haemoglobin within the blood capillaries and removes scars and pigmentation from the skin. When the blood vessels heat up, they deprive the skin’s upper layers of oxygen and nutrients - leading to shedding and replacement by new and healthier skin. This treatment can also shrink large pores and treat mild acne scars too.
