There are many types and causes of hair loss. The medical term for hair loss is alopecia. Hair usually thins as part of the overall aging process. Many of us begin to notice mild thinning of our hair after the age of 40. There is a rather strong predisposing genetic factor in accelerated hair loss. Hormonal changes during puberty, after pregnancy and menopause, and even after taking oral contraceptives may increase hair loss. Several health conditions, including thyroid disease, iron deficiency anemia, general ill health, and overly strict dieting with protein deprivation can cause more hair loss. Stress can also bring about hormonal changes that are responsible for hair loss. This can be physical stress after a serious illness or recovery from surgery, over exercising and emotional stress. While most hair loss is not associated with systemic disease, it is important to exclude a treatable cause for the hair loss.
I will prescribe a customized program to address your unique problem following a detailed consultation. My treatment for hair loss is to use a combination of energy devices, propriety supplements and sometimes, medication to treat your specific diagnosis. There is no “one size fits all” solution to hair loss, so I will then personally carefully monitor your program and modify this accordingly to your response for optimal results as you progress.
